Heat resistant polyurethane (modified polyurethane)

Description

Offered modified polyurethane (PUM) is heat resistant polyurethane which is used for manufacturing different articles and machine parts should be exploited under hard working conditions (temperature up to 150 °C ( 302 °F), aggressive environment for example acid, aromatized gasoline and so on). PUM is characterized by increased heat resistance in comparison with known polyurethane and keeps in the same time high strength parameters which are advantages of known polyurethane on the base of simple esters under normal temperature conditions. Such properties are achieved due to the change of final structure of hardened urea-urethane elastomers. In practice it means addition of special new modifying components to the pre-polymer in process of making heat resistant polyurethane. There is no need to use special equipment in comparison with process of making known polyurethane for manufacturing of PUM.

Long serviceability in aggressive environment

Parts or details made of PUM remain its properties during long time in aggressive environment such as alcohol, petroleum, acetone, toluene, acid and so on.

Stability in various climate conditions

Parts made of PUM are successfully exploited as in tropic wet and hot climate as in northern areas. As far as tropic area is concerned in addition to high temperature resistance PUM has one very big advantage property - its not eaten by insects (parts made of rubber are often eaten by insects).

Successful use of parts made of PUM in northern areas is explained by the fact it keeps elasticity under significant dynamic load up to -50 °C (-58 °F).

High strength properties under high temperature conditions

PUM keeps high strength properties under increased temperature conditions. For example tensile strength of PUM is 47.0 MPa (6721 pound/sq. inch) at 20 °C (68 °F), 24.0 MPa (3432 pound/sq. inch) at 100 °C (212 °F) and 21.2 MPa (3030 pound/sq. inch) at 150 °C (302 °F). Due to this PUM may be used for sealing in equipment for food, printing, machine building industries.

Application, commercial use

Internal combustion engines.

Sealing rings made of PUM are used for sealing crank shafts, crank cases and valves. Such rings meet requirements on long serviceability and reliability.

Foodstuff industry equipment

Sterilizing equipment of foodstuff industry needs sealing which can withstand high temperature and resist to aggressive environment. By using sealing made of PUM this problem can be successfully solved.

Printing and textile equipment

The parts and details made of PUM have no pores due to this the surface of these ones are smooth in comparison with rubber parts and details. So PUM can be used for making calenders and rolls.

Machinery

Heavy duty sealing parts of turbines, compressors, oil and production equipment can be made from PUM.
